Description

The 7 Day Tour de Suisse will show you the beauty of Switzerland, and its different landscapes. Some of the highlights of the tour are: Rheinfall, Schwägalp, Flüelapass, Splügenpass, San Bernardino Pass, Gotthardpass with its legendary cobblestone road Tremola, Lake Lucerne, and many more. Start and end of the tour is Zurich.

Day 1: We meet at Zurich Mainstation in the center of the city. Our tour leads out of town, and on small routes to Regenberg, the Rheinfall, and Berlingen on the shores of Lake Constance, where you can take a dip in the lake and recover from the first day. We will stay at the Ferienhotel Bodensee.
Route Day 1: 106km, 1260 meters climbing

Day 2: Today we cycle through the Canton of Thurgau, the region with the most fruit trees in Switzerland, to Schwägalp at the foot of Säntis. You will have the chance to get up Säntis by cable car, and enjoy a scenic view on the Alpstein and the Swiss Alps. From Schwägalp we ride through the region of Toggenburg to Wildhaus, where we stay at Hotel Hirschen.

Route Day 2: 94km, 1560 meters climbing

Day 3: We will descent from Wildhaus to the Rheintal, pass Vaduz - the capital of Lichtenstein - and follow the route to Landquart. From Landquart we will make our way through the Prätigau up to Klosters. In Klosters we have two options. Those of us, who want to do some serious climbing today, they will cycling along to Davos and over the Flüelapass to Zernez. Those who want to spend an easier day on the bike, they ride From Klosters to Susch by train. From Susch to Zernez it is a short 10k ride. We stay at Hotel Baer & Post in Zernez.

Route Day 3: Option 1 (with Flüelapass): 119km, 2680 meters climbing, Option 2 (Shortcut with train ride): 85km, 1390 meters climbing

Day 4: Today is a though ride for the the whole group, but we will be rewarded with beautiful views, and landscapes. In the morning we slowly make our way to St. Moritz, ride along Lake Silvaplana, ride down Maloyapass, and then start our epic climb up Splügenpass. Splügenpass is an insider tip for cyclists. It’s less know as other summits in Switzerland, but the 54 switch backs, and the landscape make it a real cycling gem. From Splügenpass we enjoy the downhill ride to Splügen. Tonite we wil stay at Hotel Restaurant Walserhof in Medels im Rheinwald.

Route Day 4: 124km, 2540 meters climbing

Day 5: After breakfast we tackle the first climb of the day, San Bernardino Pass. From the San Bernardino Pass we enjoy a long downhill ride towards Bellinzona in canton of Ticino, where Italian is spoken. When we reach the Bellinzona, we will ride up the Leventina to Piotta, a small village at the foot of Gotthardpass. We will stay at Motel Gottardo Sud.

Route Day 5: 120km, 1670 meters climbing

Day 6: Today we will “enjoy” another high light of this Tour de Suisse. After a short 5k warm up we reach the foot of Gotthardpass. After a few kilometers of climbing we reach the Tremola, an old road segment that still appears as it was in 1951. It is famous for its cobble stones. Don’t worry riding uphill is no problem on this underground, in contrast it is a unique cycling experience that you will never forget. When we reach Gotthardpass, we can look forward to a long 40k descent. We pass Andermatt, Göschenen, Wasen, Altdorf - the home of Wilhelm Tell - and Flüelen at the Lake Lucerne. We ride along the shores of Lake Lucerne to Weggis. This last segment is very scenic, and we will have the chance again to take a dip in the lake. In Weggis we will stay at Hotel Alpenblick.

Route Day 6: 100km, 1770 meters climbing

Day 7: The last day of our tour leads us to Aegerisee, on small roads to Menziken, and Albispass, where we can enjoy a beautiful view on Lake Zurich, and the surrounding mountains. A long the shores of Lake Zurich we get back to Zurich, where our tour started.
